random thoughts...
Listening to Songs About Jane again. I love it. 'She Will Be Loved' is my favorite at the moment.
Just watched Summerland. I'm slowly becoming addicted to it. It's typical Aaron Spelling tv (he is one of the executive producers), and I can tell that it's trying to be like the OC (last summer's big hit)... and falling very short. But Merrin Dungey is in it (Francie/Francinator from Alias), and so is Lori Loughlin (Aunt Becky from Full House. Gotta love it). And there's an underlying angst-romance thing going on between Eva (Loughlin) and Johnny (uh... and the guy who plays him is quite cute)... and I'm a sucker for the angst-romance. I can guarantee that I won't get obsessed with it though... the script isn't so good.
I've been debating whether or not to get my hair cut for a while. I think I want to grow it out, but I kind of want bangs. Not like Jennifer Garner's... hers are too blunt... but some wispy bangs.
I have a total of 4 and a half boxes packed. Tomorrow, I'm really gonna get started. I've decided that I'm going to not pack my glasses and stuff, and just bring them down in a laundry basket. They won't be very heavy, and I don't have anything to pack them in so they won't break. Moving within the same apartment building is kinda weird. I guess it's about the same as moving across the street (which, of course, my family did a few years ago).
I spent yesterday walking across campus to the office of Res Life to fill out a form to get internet service transferred. Hopefully Katie and I won't be without internet/cable for very long. On the walk back, my new blue flip flops dug into my feet, leaving me with a nice big blister. The bottoms are soft and fuzzy, but the straps are scratchy. Oh, that's not the only thing I did all day. Though, really, it is. I spent the rest of the day editing my website. I changed the name (I found another art site called Inspired, and I didn't want to look like I was copying), and got rid of some stuff and added the art I made in the last month (a LOT of stuff).

hot and sweaty...
... from working out, of course. :-P It felt good to hop on the treadmill and do my usual combination of walking and running. My sneakers make my feet hurt. I think it's 'cause I walk funny. But I was seriously slacking while I was at home (except for the daily walks with the dog... but that hardly counts as working out), so I'm out of shape. But it's funny how going on the treadmill once makes me feel so much more in shape. Even though, really, I'm not. And I'm looking forward to the pain in my legs tomorrow.
I said I was going to update my art site today. I might have been lying.
It's now only a little over a month until the Sarah McLachlan concert. I'm so excited. I've been waiting since... March (I think) for it to be Labor Day weekend. It'll be weird being in the Bradley Center for a not-basketball event. Without anything pep band-related. And not going through the back entrance. But it's Sarah McLachlan, so frankly, who cares about anything else? Plus, Tory is going to be up here all weekend. I'm excited.
Oh, and I found out that the learning and behavior class that I signed up for has been cancelled. Apparently, the usual professor is not teaching this semester (he was also my stats prof), and the replacement they got ended up not being able to teach either, so they just cancelled. It sucks, 'cause my schedule was *perfect*, and now I have to see if I can find another psych class that will fit into my schedule. Not just any psych class, it has to be one that will count towards my major. If not, then there's no way I'll be able to graduate in the spring.
I don't even want to graduate this spring, really. I feel like I'm rushing things. I'd rather stay another year, get classes out of the way, and do an internship for a semester. We'll see. My parents are pushing me to apply to grad schools for next fall. They think I'm giving up. I can't seem to explain to them that I don't want to have a jam packed schedule this year, or any year, because I can't handle it. I know my limitations.
Anyways, it's time to shower and get rid of this sticky sweatiness.

bored silly... and a (short) survey
Back in Milwaukee now. Yesterday's drive was boring... stuck in rush hour traffic for a while. No one tried to hit my car. The weather was nice. That's about all I have to say about that. Now all I have to do here is pack. Wooo. Hoo. I move into the new apartment on Friday. I'm excited. It'll be fun to have a roommate.
Other than that, I'm bored silly. Will be updating my art website soon, probably tomorrow.
Erm. Onward to the survey!
First Ten.. About You
#1) What do you wish was your name? I don't know. I really liked my french name (picked by me, back in 6th grade)... Lisette. But it's so girly.
#2) What song seems to reflect you the most? My Sundown - Jimmy Eat World. Or, depending my mood, Bicycle Tricycle - Rosie Thomas
#3) What thing always makes your day when it happens/ you see it? horseback riding.

#5) What in your life influences you the most? my family, my friends.
#6) What has been your wildest/best/most interesting fantasy? Has it come true? um... to own a horse. Has yet to happen...
#7) Which feature of yours do you love? Which do you hate? I like that I always try to see both sides of a story and that I try to be a moral person. I hate the fact that I get irritated so easily, don't have more motivation, and am not more of a people person.
#8) If you had to have a picture be your symbol, what would it be and why? A girl walking down an empty, dimly lit, wet street with an umbrella.
#9) What would you title the movie or soundtrack of your life? um.. I have no clue.
#10) What are you most dissapointed with so far? that no matter how hard I study, my grades still suck.

#5) If you could create the perfect person, what three qualities would they have and what would they look like? Intelligence, sense of humor, compassion. They would look like a normal person...
Life
#1) What confuses you the most about life? why we live if, in the end, we just die anyways.
#2) What things that go on that make you wanna scream? closemindedness.
#3) Which matters more, people's words or actions? um... a combination of both. A person's actions and words should always be the same.
#4) Does love really make the world go round? yes... but in a way, it also is bad. I mean, take battles over religion... both sides love their religion so much, they think it's worth fighting for.
#5) What one issue is most important to you? um... hm. I don't know. There are a few.
Other than that, I'm bored silly. Will be updating my art website soon, probably tomorrow.

raving about the Notebook
Saw the Notebook with Tory today (we went to a 5:15 matinee... woohoo. It was weird leaving the theater when it was still light out). A bit different from the book, but it was good. Very good. The cinematography was nicely done. However, I'm sure it would have been even better if we hadn't been sitting in the very front row. I mean, we were so close, Joan Allen didn't really look like herself. Anyways... it was just one of those movies that makes you sigh. Definately my favorite Nicholas Sparks book, and my favorite movie made from his books (this was heads better than that A Walk To Remember movie).

Checked online for the status of a movie I've been waiting FOREVER to come out. Now they're saying it won't even be released in theaters. Grrrrrrrr. The movie is called It's All About Love, by the way. It'll either be on cable or go straight to video. Hopefully video so I can at least WATCH it. Cannes (pronounced CAHNS not CAN-NES, by the way :ahem:) Film Festival hated it last year. But I'm so curious about it now.
So while I was looking around, I formulated a list of upcoming movies that I really want to see. Keep in mind, this list doesn't include movies that are already out that I want to see (like the Notebook, the Terminal, Stepford Wives, Spiderman 2, King Arthur). Some of the release dates may not be accurate, since some of them won't be released 'til at least the end of this year. Most of them are scheduled for limited releases.
Bourne Supremecy - July 23
Maria Full of Grace - July 16 (limited) (I saw a trailer for this before Fahrenheit 9/11 and it just looked really good! Also, it's gotten excellent reviews)
We Don't Live Here Anymore - Aug. 13 (limited)
Vanity Fair - Sept. 1 (sounds like a light n fluffy movie, typical of Reese Witherspoon)
Head In the Clouds - Sept. 17 (limited)
In My Country - Oct. 1 (limited)
A Sound of Thunder - Oct. 8 (I'm kinda weary of this one... the buzz isn't very positive so far. But it's based off my favorite Ray Bradbury short story, so...)
I Heart Huckabee's - Oct. 15 (limited) (Jude Law... :sigh:... and Naomi Watts star as "detectives" who help people with *existential* crises. I can't resist)
PS - Oct. 15 (Paul Rudd AND Topher Grace! Add Laura Linney into that mix, and I cannot miss this movie)
Eulogy - Oct. 29 (it sounds amusing)
The Ring 2 - Nov. 10
Kinsey - Nov. 12 (limited) (saw a trailer for this before Fahrenheit 9/11 too. Looks very interesting. Plus, Liam Neeson and Laura Linney star.. they were both in Love Actually)
Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason - Nov. 19 (didn't like the first one much, but here's hoping to a better sequel...)
First Daughter - Nov. 19 (eh... maybe I'll wait til this one comes out on video... we'll see. Seems quite teenybopper-ish)
Shopgirl - Nov. '04 (Claire Danes! And Steve Martin. And it's NOT a comedy)
Phantom of the Opera - Dec. 3 (limited) (just very curious about this now)
Ocean's Twelve - Dec. 10
Il cuore altrove (A Heart Elsewhere)
The I Inside (Robert Sean Leonard from Dead Poets Society and Swingers is in it!)
November (winner of Best Cinematography at Sundance... worth seeing)
Elektra - the opening date got moved from Feb to January.
The Wallace and Gromit movie (Wallace and Gromit are too funny. Socute. Yes. One word)
Memoirs of a Geisha (something tells me they might ruin it, but the book was just so good)
Fahrenheit 451 (another one of the Ray Bradbury books I really liked when I was younger)
Monster-in-law (okay, ignore the fact that JLo is in it. Michael Vartan :sigh:)
Synergy - sometime in '05 (Topher Grace!)
X-Files 2 - sometime in '06 (two more years...)
That's quite a bit of movies and I probably won't see all of them. But those are the ones that interest me right now.

ravings over a song and a movie
Went and saw Fahrenheit 9/11 tonight. Going to the theater on a Monday night is kinda odd... but we found really good parking. The movie was great. Some of those clips of Bush were really funny. Maybe I'm mean for making fun of him. But I make fun of everyone, so why should I make an exception for him? As for things Moore mentioned in the documentary that people are claiming are false... why don't the conservatives all get together, point out every single thing that they claim are false and provide real good evidence that those things are indeed false, instead of just boo-hooing that Moore is full of libel (or is it slander? Another blonde moment... I've been having quite a few lately).
The song I want to rave over? King of Yesterday, by Jude. I don't remember downloading it ever, but apparently I did. And today I listened to it for the first time, I think, and I LOVE it. It's fantastic. The lyrics are great.

Ch-ch-ch-changes
That's right, I've changed my template. It's less pretty now, but the flower thing just wasn't working for me anymore. I guess I'm in a polka-dot-ish kinda mood. The comments thing is different too. I gave up on haloscan, which wasn't working for me properly, and am now using the comments thing provided by blogger. Less spiffy, but it works. I hope. However, I lost all the previous comments. Lets have a moment of silence for the lost comments.
:moment:
Oh yes, and I've actually added a profile. Good times.
Putting it simply, I'm bored. Still no job, and the chances of getting one aren't too good. Instead, I'll be working through the school year... which should be interesting. I'm at home, too... home being Naperville, home of the extremely rude drivers. Seriously. yesterday morning, I went to Blockbuster to return a movie (Cold Mountain, very good. I think I must buy it... with all that money I have just lying around. Right). On the way out of my subdivision, I have to go past the golf club (where they have the "good" pool... but you have to pay a shitload of money to join). Cars are parked on both sides of the street, making for very careful steering (as everyone likes to park around a bend in the street, of course. God forbid they park 50 ft down the street and have to WALK that extra distance), especially if there is a car coming from the other direction. Well, I was creeping down that street when all of a sudden, a jeep pulls out in front of me. No signal, no warning that they were going to just come in front of me. Thankfully, I was going about 2 mph anyways, and I was able to brake in time. But gah! Did that idiot think that I was supposed to yield to HER? (And it was a her, with a kid, of course. What a bad driving example for the kid) Geez... drivers are more considerate in Milwaukee, sadly.
In short, being home is driving me insane (well... more insane than I already was). I need to get back to my apartment. Which isn't mine for much longer. I move into a two bedroom with my friend Katie at the end of the month. I need to get back and pack (hey, that rhymes).
Well, I'm tired and out of things to say for now. Enjoy the changes in my blog.
